SLUFAN Community Council Press Release Regarding South Lake Union EIS Alternatives
|
The City of Seattle Department of Planning and Development held an open house September 16, 2008 to present a set of Urban Form Alternatives to be studied in an Environmental Impact Statement. The alternatives represent a range of height, density and building form factors to be evaluated through the EIS study. The EIS study will lead to South Lake Union zoning recommendations that will be presented to the Mayor and City Council for consideration in 2009.
The four Urban Form Alternatives and other presentation material presented by the City can be read here. Contact information for questions is listed on the website.

SLUFAN
Recommends a Range of Alternatives for EIS
|
The South Lake Union Friends and
Neighbors Community Council at its Board meeting on June 3, 2008,
voted unanimously to forward a range of three alternatives for
increased height and density of the South Lake Union neighborhood to
Mayor Greg Nickels and to the City’s Department of Planning and
Development for consideration. These options follow the City’s
designation of the neighborhood as an Urban Center to accept greater
density as the city grows. Later this year the Department of
Planning and Development will select alternatives to be studied in
the South Lake Union Urban Form Environmental Impact Study (EIS).
The City will also consider a no-action alternative, as is the case
with all Environmental Impact Statements.
